Cadence Announces Installations of Palladium Verification Systems
Texas Instruments Selects Palladium Via the QuickCycles EX Program to Provide Worldwide Access to High-Performance Verification Technology
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--August 6, 2002--
Cadence Design System's, Inc. (NYSE:CDN - News) Quickturn(TM) group
today announced that Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) has deployed
Palladium(TM) design verification systems through the QuickCycles
EXtended (EX) Access program.
QuickCycles EX extends the original QuickCycles remote access
model by giving customers the choice of either remote access to the
latest Cadence®technologies, with equipment installed at a nearby
Cadence facility, or on-site access, with equipment installed directly
at the customer's facility. The enhanced program also allows customers
to add capacity in peak times and reduce capacity between projects.
The Palladium system offers high-performance
simulation-acceleration and in-circuit emulation for complex nanometer
chips and systems. TI plans to use Palladium on various projects
around the world for verification of its digital signal processors
(DSPs), wireless, broadband, and Internet audio products and to
facilitate the development of its customers' DSP-based systems. The
Palladium demonstration at the DSP Developer Conference will show DSP
developers how Palladium can be used early in the design cycle to
concurrently verify hardware and software of a TI DSP-based design.
"As a 10-year Quickturn customer, we know we can rely on Quickturn
to offer us leading verification technologies and services," said
Buddy Williams, manager of EDA contracts at TI. "Investing in
Palladium via the QuickCycles EX program allows members of our
development groups in all corners of the world to benefit from the
high performance and productivity of Palladium."
"Working with TI enables Cadence to provide leading-edge
verification solutions for semiconductor and systems companies across
the spectrum of wireless and networking design markets," said
Christopher Tice, Cadence senior vice president and Quickturn general
manager. "QuickCycles EX provides valued customers with flexible
access to the market's best technology whenever and wherever they need
it, coupled with opportunities for unsurpassed efficiency for their
design teams."
Product Availability and Pricing
Palladium is available today in configurations up to 16 million
gates and 8GB of memory. New Palladium hardware and software
configurations, which extend capacity to 128 million gates and 64GB of
memory, are scheduled for availability in Q3 2002. The new QuickCycles
EX program is available immediately for commitments from three to 36
months with U.S. list prices for base configurations starting at
approximately $15,000 to $18,000 per million gates, per month --
